Happy Animals, Healthy Animals

All of our animals have a job here at Yonderyear Farm. We treat them like respected farm employees, knowing that we’ll only get out of them what we put in. Our sheep are managed in an intensive rotational grazing system which allows them to graze pastures at the optimal nutrition point of the grass. Flora and Odie, our Maremma Sheepdogs happily live full-time with the flock, protecting them from predators and bringing smiles to farm visitors. Chickens follow the sheep in rotation to break down organic matter and boost pasture fertilization. And guinea hens keep the tick and pest population at bay. Our managed grazing system keeps the whole farm healthy and prevents the need for prophylactic deworming and vaccinations. Happy, healthy animals work harder, are more productive and improve the overall well-being of our farm system.
